The History Of The Orchestra
Orchestra's started their roots in the 17th century. There were many groups of instrumentalists then (no where near as many as there are nowadays!) but were only employed for important occasions and to play for rich and noble families. But it soon became more popular and were hired more frequently until the late 17th century where Claudio Monteverdi ( a Italian opera composer) used a group of specific musicians created by Johann Stamitz to feature in one of his pieces. We now know these orchestras to be a called 'Modern Orchestra' and is a type of orchestra used by many famous composers.
